Swimming

The thing that I have enjoyed most, was doing swimming in the pool and doing some lessons. What I have learnt from Chris was doing back strokes, and the dolphin swim. We didn’t know that we were going to be able to have the pool for the rest of whole term 4.Our school loved the pool.It was covered with the white marquee to keep it safe.If only we had our own pool every year.

My goals were to focus on what I was doing ,trying to breathe in and out and swimming straight in a line.Whenever I go swimming with Chris,I still need to learn how to do back strokes because when I swim backwards I swim crooked instead of going straight only I had a pool ,I could swim for the rest of the year with my whole family.”Wow thanks Water safe Auckland for the awesome pool,I have really enjoyed playing in the pool it was really amazing.”

Last week on Wednesday we were doing art. Our first step was that we had to get a piece of paper and a book to look for some interesting critters. Then when we had found our own critter we had to draw it and after we had to colour it in with a crayon.Next I went to draw my butterfly with a crayon and when i went to go and die I was really excited because their were different colours that I wanted to use but I only had to use one colour. My favorite colour was yellow, but then Miss King my favourite teacher had told me to use green or blue,I went outside to die it green. The butterfly that I wanted from the book where their is heaps of interesting information."Wow what are day we had on Wednesday afternoon. But I did have fun doing art.

Monarch Butterfly

One sunny day, there was a small tiny egg on a leaf. The next day it grew and grew until it was big and fat. Suddenly it was the day for the egg to wriggle and shake. When the egg had cracked it showed up the Caterpillar and then the caterpillar went off to look for some food. When the caterpillar finished searching for some food, it was now looking for a place to sleep.

When the caterpillar is ready to make a chrysalis it hangs up side down and it is waiting to be a chrysalis. Sometimes it could take a long time to make a chrysalis. Once the caterpillar a chrysalis it is time for the caterpillar to turn into a Monarch Butterfly. When the butterfly is ready to hatch it slowly comes out and it let it's wings to dry. After it's ready to fly it first tests itself.

Outside comes a Monarch Butterfly it is flying around having a good time. Sometimes Monarch Butterfly can be big, small and medium. They always fly to flowers to eat nectar. Monarch Butterflies have got pattens on their wings, they fly every where around the world. When they fly, they usually fly to Mexico because Mexico is a warm place to be in.

Ramona Netball

On the first game, my perssion was GA and GS. In the first half I was playing GA, when I was playing against ANC school I felt like we were to easy for them. While I was running I slowly slowed myself down because my heart was pumping. When oyr game had stop we had to go to Miss Nua just to tell us what we're doing right. Then I heard a noise that was time for us to go onto the courts to play.During our game, I felt really tired that I didn't get to have a drink of water. The next perssion that I was playing was Goal shoot I really enjoyed playing Goal shoot because I didn't get to run I just had to stand in the circle and shoot the ball into the hoop.We have three games on every Thursday and in every week. After our last game we were playing really hard to win our game ,then when this crazy sound had turned up it meant that our game was over.I saw Mary.l cheering because we had won the game."Hurray Hurray" I said.

Netball Awards

Friday morning was like an awsome day because my FAVOURITE coach, who is Miss Tito, gave the yr 5 netball team a trophy. When I went to go and get my golden trophy and a certificate, I was really nervous to go up onto the stage and smile. While I was waiting onto the stage, I was really proud of myself. When the netball season starts again next year, I will join in because netball is my favourite sport to play. The thing that I like playing mostly is netball. When I grow up to be a teenager I will keep playing netball, because I want to play for the rest of my life.

Sir Francis Drake

Sir Francis Drake, born in 1540 in England, was a bold and brilliant sailor. He was employed by Queen Elizabeth 1, as a privateer. On slave voyages to the West Indies, Drake attacked Spanish Galleons and stole their treasure.
Drake's adventures in the West Indies impressed the Queen, who asked him to lead England's first circumnavigation of the world. He left from England in his ship called The Golden Hinde Drake sailed through the strait of Magellan and into the Pacific Ocean and along the Western Shores of the Americas, and then into Asia. Three years later he returned to Britain.

Ferdinand Magellan

Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 in Portugal, Having disagreements with the government he decided he would sail for Spain. After he had the disagreement he went to the king of Spain and ask him for money and a boat and told him to make another way through to go India because the Portugese were blocking the route around Africa. Magellan took the Victoria and sailed across the Magellan Strait to the Pacific Ocean. Magellan had discovered the new ocean, which was very peaceful which is why he called it the Pacific Ocean, When he stopped in the Phillipines to have a break the Phillipines attacked them. Sadly Magellan died and never finished the voyage, however his crew finished the voyage and the Victoria boat was the first to circumnavigate the world.

Netball

When I play netball I always have to practise shooting the ball into the hoop. Every Thursday we play a game against another school. I get a red face and I sweat alot as I play. Before our games we practice and practice untill we get good at it. When we finish practising we have a break in the libary and we have a feed too.
When it's time for us to go, we take our gear and we walk to our coaches car to take us to the netball court. As we got onto the court we see a school that we are playing against. The school that we usually play is Holy Cross. It's always a tough game when we play against Holy Cross. After our game has finished we have a handshake to say "Goodgame."Then get change to go home and relax.

I went sailing!

Sailing on the boat was really cold. It was windy and I was shivering as we were sailing along. As we were sailing, our wake trailed behind the boat. We had to pull the sheet, which was the rope, to raise the sails. We had to pull it as hard as we could. As we were heaving we were starting to struggle and scream. Gale force wind was lashing my hair as we sailed away from the harbour bridge.

Our Pirate Wordle

These stories that we wrote in our google docs were all about pirates to tell our audience information about them. This Wordle tells us what words we used the most in our stories. The words that we mostly used were, pirate, hat and sword to make our stories interesting. We had so much fun making a Wordle.

The Most Dangerous Volcano

When I watched my Volcano eruption it was amazing because lava came out of the volcano
and destroyed Eastland. To make my movie better I could've put some interesting things so it
could not be boring to watch. The part that was really good was when the lava that came out of
the volcano and destroyed the land. The thing that I have learnt from doing this eruption was by
using the ingredients to make it erupt. Next time I will change my voice-over to make it better
and interesting.

I am making movies Awards

We entered the 'I am making movies' competition, that was run by our Auckland Museum. We won the creative story telling section! This movie is from the Awards evening, held yesterday at the Auckland Museum. You will see here our year 7 Kapahaka group who opened the evening. This is followed by us - the talented Room 14 Actors who were in the winning movie. Thanks to all the fantastic people who helped us with this movie. Click here to watch our movie.

He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata

We made this movie as part of a competition for the Auckland Museum. Lots of schools from all over Auckland entered the competition. We were delighted to find out that we had made the finals. We got to go to the awards ceremony at the museum too. Keisha Castle-Hughes even gave out the prizes!
The idea of our movie is that even though technology has changed throughout the years, people are still the most important thing in our lives.
All of us enjoyed making the movie. We were so excited to find out that we had won the most Creative Storytelling category. We think our movie is just AWESOME - What do you think?

Active Earth

How do you say that again?

So the whole world has been wondering, how on earth do we actually say - Ejyafjallajokull?
Luckily our teacher knows some lovely Icelandic people and they have helped us out to try and learn.
We can only say that we tried our best - fingers crossed it's nearly good enough!

Stop Thiiiink and DO!

We've been learning that it's important to always stop and think before doing something.
This movie shows what we should do if we find sports gear left on the field.

Favourite Thing at Camp - March 24 2010

Way to go! Heather" shouted Oshania as she threw the bowling ball at the pins.
She was so nervous but she was having a go. When it was Huelo-Ata's turn

she was so excited because it was her secound time at ten pin bowling.
When the pins fell down Huelo-ata only had one left and we were cheering for her
"HURRAY."
Oshania's turn and she got a strike. Her auntie gave her a big hug and a big cuddle.
After that it was my turn and as I carried the bowllig ball I thought that I might break the
ground as it was so heavy. I knocked one of the pins over I was suddenly shocked because
I had done so badly. After my turn our game was over and we had scored 299 points.
